As per my communication of the 3rd instant

I have now the honour to enclose my own report on the

subject, together with nine statements in the Chinese

language from some of the labourers themselves handed to

me by one of the Chinese residents in Africa, untranslated; no translation being procurable here; the

contents of which, consequently are unknown to me.

My report dated the 13th instant, will be of

use in qualifying them.
